About Julie Goldman

With a mind born for discovery, Julie is always looking for what’s new, whether that’s design inspiration, houses on the market, or even what’s new with her clients.

After graduating cum laude with a degree in Art History from Tufts University, Julie returned to her hometown to work for renowned interior design firm Holden and Dupuy. Her time with the legendary duo helped Julie hone her eye for antiques and how they could be reimagined in contemporary spaces. Following a decade in production design, Julie launched J. Latter Design in 2000 in Los Angeles.

Julie’s life continually shapes her career, not the other way around. Inspired by the many beautiful aspects of her world, Julie’s work is often a blend of modern and vintage, but always features elements of history and hand-wrought craftsmanship. She loves working with her carefully selected team of local craftsmen who execute unique and highly individualized projects. Julie sees her clients as collaborators, too, making sure to involve them in the process so that her work is less a finished product and more a true expression of home.

Julie Goldman teaches people to discover beauty in all aspects of life. Whether you’re seeking a beautiful home, a nourishing atmosphere, or bona-fide products that you deserve, you can trust that you’ll find it with Julie.

Testimonials

Julie was an integral part of our project, a historical renovation of a commercial property in New Orleans. She was one of the first vendors that we hired, so her design sensibility was a part of every decision that we made throughout the 14 month process. Julie’s taste, creativity and knowledge were evident in every suggestion, along with her dedication to understanding our needs and goals. As with all renovations there were highs and lows, and Julie’s enthusiasm and optimism were unflagging. I recommend her highly and look forward to working with her on future projects.

I hired Julie and J. Latter to help design a restaurant/nightclub I opened in Los Angeles. I worked with an architect, but Julie was responsible for the color scheme; for selecting all fabrics, furniture coverings, carpeting, window treatments and other and finishes, for artwork and furniture selection. Julie is great; she has a great eye and sense of style, and was always able to work within my budget. She is very easy to work with, as are her various service providers. I felt like once she understood the look and feel we were going for, she made inspired suggestions; I couldn't have been happier with the outcome, and got great feedback on the final product. Julie is extremely creative: she actually helped create artwork for the space based on the theme of the restaurant, buying on ebay and at flea markets to create design elements that customers consistently commented on. I would use her again in a heartbeat, on a business or my own home. I feel she could take a project of any size (and budget) add a lot of value. I recommend her highly.

I loved working with J. Latter Design! Julie was a pleasure to work with, and made the whole process fun and stress free. I have recommended her to several friends and will absolutely continue to work with her myself - she has a great eye for design and detail and provides excellent service to her clients. She is a true professional and a joy to be around. I highly recommend her!

I am incredibly happy with the work Julie did on my house, and I'd recommend her without reservations. From paint color to furniture to window treatments, she was able to intuit my own personal taste ... and to then use my taste as a jumping off point to introduce me to a world of design possibilities I would have never considered on my own. Julie was consistently conscientious and responsible in terms of budget and scheduling. And she was also a pleasure to work with -- considerate, thoughtful, dedicated, easygoing ... and she's got two adorable children to boot. It's now been a couple years since Julie completed her work, and I still appreciate all that she did -- to this day, I often think how much I love my home and how comfortable and welcoming it now is (I'm not making this up). As an aside, pretty much everyone I've ever invited over spontaneously compliments her work within moments of walking through the front door ...
